Our
HBOT Experience
My daughter Maya has a rare
inborn error of Metabolism and consequently, has significant
developmental disabilities. She has had the benefit of early
intervention and lots of therapy. She remains, however profoundly
limited in her ability to verbally communicate. She has a
few words and phrases. She has low and cognitive impairments
as well. I have been following all the information in the
MUMS newsletters about HBOT and wanted to investigate whether
this was a viable intervention for Maya.
Dr. Harch was an extremely helpful
resource. My husband and I finally decided to go ahead with
HBOT. We will be returning for the second time to the H.O.P.E.
Center in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The staff is great, very
well trained and helped us process insurance information.
The Center is spotless, the chambers are large and well spaced.
Sessions were available to us on Saturday so that we could
maximize the number of Treatments we could get while in Florida.
Maya experience spontaneous babbling that we had never heard
before after treatments. She also acquired some new language
very quickly language that she has not lost. And, more
subtle changes have been observed by those working with her.
She seems more focused, processing of information seems more
fluid and her balance seems better. She has recently started
taking ice-skating lessons and does very well! She is also
recognizing a few words in print.
Needless to say, we are thrilled
and hope to continue to provide Maya with treatments as she
continues to develop. Anyone is welcome to contact me if they
have questions about our experience at this clinic. (Flavoprotein
