LYME DISEASE
Lyme disease is one of the most challenging arthropod-borne infectious diseases to diagnose, study, and treat. The disease is caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi carried by the deer tick and transferred to humans and other mammals by its bite.
This spirochete is an anaerobic organism and cannot live in increased levels of oxygen. An environment of 100% oxygen pressurized to 2.36 atmospheres, absolute (ATA) inhibits the spirochete, along with antibiotic therapy aiding to resolve the ongoing symptoms of fatigue, myalgia, cognitive disorders, and depression. |
