Brown Recluse Spider Bite
The Brown Recluse Spider is normal found in the central and southern US.
The bite is accompanied by pain and erythema at the puncture site. Within 24-72 hours an ulcer may occur which could be followed by necrosis of the underlying tissue including the muscle.
If not treated quickly, plastic surgery may be required to excise the necrotic area.
Results of HBOT in the reported cases shows that it is possible to avoid surgery and other side effects of the bite. If surgery is indicated, HBOT will accelerate the healing by reversing the hypoxia and thrombotic action of the venom.
